SWGfL Launches Assisted Monitoring using Futures Cloud
Today, SWGfL announced that it is introducing an Assisted Monitoring service employing Future Digital's groundbreaking active monitoring solution, Futures Cloud, to support schools to offer the best online safeguarding provision.
SWGfL's new service will assist schools in managing technology monitoring systems by keeping a continual eye on each school's monitoring systems and contacting the school immediately in cases where potential risk arise. SWGfL Assisted Monitoring will be using Futures Cloud to deliver this service. Futures Cloud offers precision identification of safeguarding risk and is an ideal solution for supporting schools to keep children safe online.
SWGfL is uniquely placed to provide this service, applying its unique skills and team developed over the years of operating 2 landmark and award winning helplines; the Professionals Online Safety Helpline (POSH – part of the UK Safer Internet Centre) and the Revenge Porn Helpline(RP) – both are world firsts. SWGfL has developed world leading responses to and managing complex online safety issues coupled with unrivalled links with social media and technology providers.
Should an urgent issue arise the Assisted Monitoring team will make immediate contact with the school. Capitalising on the unique skills within SWGfL, advice will then be given to the school (if required) in responding, managing and resolving the particular issue.
Laura Higgins, Online Safety Operations Manager at SWGfL said “our specialist team has developed a unique set of capabilities that are perfect for this type of service. They have trained eyes that are tuned into the issues to look for, the capacity to make immediate contact with the school and the skills to help resolve, what are often complex and significant issues. We have been critical of schools that purchase these very powerful monitoring systems but fail to apply the necessary resources to manage them. Effective safeguarding relies on a schools ability to respond and act on those alerts. A school holding safeguarding intelligence and not acting upon it undermines the systems purpose and it is failing in its duty of care. We have the capability and capacity to make a real difference here – that is why we are introducing Assisted Monitoring”
Dominik Wellmann, Future Digital's CEO, commented 'we are delighted to be able to support SWGfL's new Assisted Monitoring initiative. Assisted Monitoring and Futures Cloud combined will provide schools with an invaluable resource for ensuring the safety of learners in both online and real world environments as well as supporting school leaders to take action where potential risk is apparent.
Assisted Monitoring will be available to any school who already have Futures Cloud monitoring in place or interested in purchasing it.

About Futures Cloud
Future Digital’s software solution, Futures Cloud, performs three functions: monitoring, capturing and alerting of users accessing potentially harmful online content or developing problematic digital behaviour. The product is specifically designed for the purpose of safeguarding in order to prevent and protect young people and vulnerable individuals from harm.
The solution works by monitoring all active user data and not just Internet activity. Our software is designed around themes of key safeguarding areas such as radicalisation, cyberbullying, self- harm and child sexual exploitation, among others. When a potential incident occurs a screenshot is generated and stored in a web-based console for assessment by supervisory staff.
The product also offers advanced incident management allowing the user to tailor reports on the number and type of incidents that have occurred. Future Digital’s comprehensive reporting mechanism ensures that safeguarding managers have the ability to instantly identify the most severe incidents and can therefore provide timely intervention. In addition our software can be configured to deliver regular activity reports or can be configured to create immediate alerts based around defined parameters. Our solutions extend to a wide range of devices including PC, Mac and iPad.
